The Bosporan Kingdom was a Greek-led state on the Black Sea's northern coast. It mixed Greek cities with Scythian, Sarmatian, and local peoples. It prospered by exporting grain, fish, and slaves to the Mediterranean.
It survived as a Roman client state for centuries. Invasions by Goths and Huns eventually broke it apart. Its cities remained important until the early medieval period.
