The Serbian Empire

The Serbian Empire was a short-lived medieval Balkan state under Stefan Dusan in the 14th century. It conquered much of Serbia, Greece, and Albania. Dusan codified laws and promoted Serbian Orthodox culture.

After Dusan's death in 1355, the empire fragmented. The Ottomans defeated Serbian forces at Kosovo in 1389. Serbia then became an Ottoman vassal and later a province.
