German New Guinea

German New Guinea was a German colony in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It covered northeastern New Guinea and nearby islands. Germany used it for plantations and trade.

Australia captured it in World War I. After the war, it became an Australian mandate. It later merged with Papua to form Papua New Guinea.
